The new changes to the OB are nice, however, IMO only the Meta-Battledome section is really necessary, as I don't think visitors/regulars of the Battledome can be bothered posting their battles into seperate sections, where they might not get noticed.
What I propose is that the Manga Battles and the Comic Battles sections be scratched, as the way I see it, not many people are going to bother to post in there.
Rather, keep the battles on one central page, much like the Old OB

Here is my thinking behind it:
If a battle is just comics v. comics, non-comic readers wouldn't have reason to see it. Same with manga/anime for non-otaku (more rare on an anime forum, yes). It's the same concept as a Naruto or Bleach battledome. If it's Bleach character v. Bleach character, non-Bleachers don't care.
However, if you are one of the above people, then you have a section available were you will be talking to people that keep up with the same genre/series.
For example, I go to the Naruto Battledome for Naruto battles. Everyone there is a Naruto watcher/reader.
I see this as good for the people that in the respective niches and the ones not in them.
Also, I have noticed the problem of battles being made in here very quickly, which pushes other battles onto the second page. Usually, a very active thread dies instantly when that happens. This way, the first page will be a bit slower to push others off.

I was just concerned, seeing as when new sections are created, they take a really long time for people to get used to, and they can really stagnate.
An example being the Comics subsection of Library Floor 2, which has only maybe 10 active posters and 2 or 3 active threads.
Anyways its good to see the mods getting active in the OB again, as for awhile there the OB was getting abit stale-

I have similar worries to be honest. I never saw the battledome as having that much activity to begin with (it had its ups and downs) and splitting it might kill off alot of activity.
However, I trust the mods for the most part so Im taking a wait and see attitude about the changes. I could be completely wrong and I hope I am |
